§ 6-29. Certificate of registration required prior to issuance of new residential dwelling building permit.

(a)

Applications to the building official for the issuance under this article of a permit for the construction of a new dwelling by any residential building contractor (as defined by A.C.A. § 17-25-502) or any home improvement contractor (as defined by A.C.A. § 17-25-502) for a single family residence (as defined in A.C.A. § 17-25-502) shall include a copy of the applicant's license issued by the Arkansas Residential Contractor's Committee pursuant to the provisions of the Arkansas State Residential Licensing Law (codified in subchapter 5 of chapter 25 of title 17 of the Arkansas Code); provided, proof of license shall not be required of any residential building contractor or home improvement contractor on any project when the total cost of the work done or to be done does not exceed two thousand dollars ($2,000.00).

(b)

The requirements of this section shall be deemed to be independent of the requirements of any other ordinance for the issuance of permits for such construction.
