§ 6-355. Fees.

  • (a)

    Permit fees for homeowners shall be paid at the time a permit is issued. Permit fees for HVACR contractors shall be billed on a statement of fees for all permits and inspections issued to an HVACR contractor during a month. The statement will be mailed as soon after the end of the month as possible. The total amount of such statement shall be due and payable by the tenth day of the month following the month in which the charges were incurred. If the total amount of such statement remains unpaid on the last day of the following month, no further permits shall be issued to such HVACR contractor. Further, demand for payment of all fees may be made upon the surety bond required in section 6-356.

    (b)

    The following fees shall be paid to the city:

    (1)

    Residential new construction:

    a.

    Seventy-five dollars ($75.00) for the first four (4) tons;

    b.

    Thirty dollars ($30.00) for each additional ton or fraction thereof above four (4) tons.

    (2)

    Residential existing/retrofit:

    a.

    Furnace only ..... $45.00

    b.

    Condensing unit only ..... 45.00

    c.

    Complete system ..... 75.00

    d.

    Additional systems ..... 45.00

    (3)

    Commercial construction: One (1) percent of the HVACR job up to fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00) of construction cost and one-half (½) percent for each additional one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) valuation. Construction cost shall include labor, material, subcontracts, overhead, profit and other cost necessary to properly complete the job for its intended use.

    (4)

    Industrial and kitchen ventilation systems: One (1) percent of the HVACR job.

    (5)

    In case it becomes necessary to make a reinspection by failure of the contractor to be ready for the initial inspection or test, or by failure to comply with any provisions of this article, or any rule or regulation made pursuant hereto, such contractor shall pay a reinspection fee of twenty dollars ($20.00).

    (6)

    When a preliminary inspection is requested for purposes of permitting temporary operation of a heating, ventilating, refrigeration or air conditioning system, or portion thereof, a fee of twenty dollars ($20.00) shall be paid by the contractor requesting such preliminary inspection. If the system is not approved for temporary operation on the first preliminary inspection, the usual reinspection fee shall be charged for each subsequent preliminary inspection for such purpose.

    (7)

    The permit fee for any work that commences before obtaining the necessary permits shall be subject to a penalty of one hundred (100) percent of the usual permit fee in addition to the required permit fees.
