§ 6-131. Required.

  • (a)

    An individual, partnership or corporation, desiring to engage in the business of electrical contracting must possess the prescribed master electrician's license or employ a master electrician as its superintendent or manager.

    (b)

    Before any person shall engage in the business of electrical contracting, the name, residence and place of business of such person shall be registered with the building official of the city. Such registration shall include the name of the master electrician managing or supervising the business of such person as superintendent or manager and the date on which such person qualified as a master electrician under the terms and provisions of this division. Every removal of place of business, or change in name of the organization, or change in the licensed master electrician in charge of the business shall require immediate notice thereof to the city. Every electrical contractor shall promptly report the death, resignation or discharge of such master electrician; and if another master electrician is not secured within three (3) days after the next succeeding examination held therefor by the electrical examining board, the license of such contractor shall be suspended until a new licensed master electrician is employed.

    (c)

    No licensed and registered master electrician can represent more than one (1) electrical contracting business at any one (1) time. The actual work shall be done by a qualified master electrician or journeyman wireman.

    (d)

    Upon reaching the age of sixty-five (65), or any time thereafter, any person who has been a licensed master electrician licensed by the board of electrical examiners for not less than twelve (12) years may apply for a lifetime registration as a master electrician in the city. This registration shall be issued upon satisfactory proof of age and a current lifetime master electrician license issued by the board of electrical examiners and payment of a one-time fee of twenty-five dollars ($25.00).
