Latest version.
  • (a)

Fees for electrical permits shall be based on the number of active circuits installed under any one (1) permit. A separate permit will be required and a separate fee computed for each electric meter installed. The amount to be charged per circuit shall be as follows:

      Number of
    Active Circuits
    Charge per
    Active Circuit
     1—4 ..... $ 5.50
     5—10 .....   5.00
    11—20 .....   4.50
    21—42 .....   4.00
    43 and over .....   3.50
    Minimum inspection fee .....  30.00

    (b)

For the purpose of computing fees, a two- or three-wire single phase circuit shall be counted as two (2) circuits; a three- or four-wire three-phase circuit shall be counted as three (3) circuits.

    (c)

The permit fee specified above will be charged for each circuit worked, except when the work to be performed consists only of the replacement of an existing panel, in which case a fee of thirty dollars ($30.00) will be charged. When a panel is relocated to a point more than five (5) feet from its original location, the permit fee will be computed based on the total number of active circuits in the panel times the appropriate per circuit charge.

    (d)

The fee for a permit for the installation of a temporary service to be used only during construction shall be thirty dollars ($30.00).

    (e)

The fee for a permit for the installation of a service for a mobile home or travel trailer shall be thirty-five dollars ($35.00).

    (f)

The fee for a permit for the installation of an electric sign shall be thirty-five dollars ($35.00). All outside signs shall have a disconnecting means within sight.

    (g)

The fee for a permit to install any equipment for the purpose of producing electrical energy shall be thirty dollars ($30.00) for generators of fifty (50) watts to three thousand (3,000) watts, and forty dollars ($40.00) for equipment producing over three thousand (3,000) watts.

    (h)

Fees for permits to install transformers shall be computed as follows:

    Size    Charge

    Less than 5 KVA\$15.00

    5 KVA to 50 KVA\40.00

    Over 50 KVA\60.00

    (i)

An annual fee for the inspection of work performed by a registered maintenance electrician shall be computed at the rate of one dollar and twenty-five cents ($1.25) per each entry in the maintenance log. Such fee for each installation shall not be less than twenty dollars ($20.00).

    (j)

The fees specified above shall include charges for all inspections made during construction, a final inspection upon completion of the work, and one subsequent inspection to determine that any deficiencies noted at the time of the final inspection are properly corrected. Should additional inspections become necessary by failure of the electrician to be ready for the called for inspection, or by failure to comply with any provision of this chapter, or any rule or regulation made pursuant hereto, such electrician shall suffer a penalty of twenty dollars ($20.00) for each and every additional inspection.

    (k)

The permit fee for any work which is started prior to issuance of a permit shall be three (3) times the fee which would otherwise be charged for the work.

    (l)

Fees may be paid at the time a permit is issued, or if not, a statement of fees for all permits issued to an electrical contractor during a month will be mailed as soon after the end of the month as possible. The total amount of such statement shall be due and payable by the tenth day of the month following the month in which the charges were incurred. If the total amount of such statement remains unpaid on the last day of the following month, no further permits shall be issued to such electrical contractor. Further, demand for payment of all fees shall be made upon the surety bond required in section 6-132. Fees for any work that does not require a bonded, licensed electrician shall be paid at the time a permit is issued. If the total fee cannot be determined, a minimum fee of thirty dollars ($30.00) shall be paid. Any additional fees or refund shall be determined at final inspection.
