§ 4-136. Cat identification.

  • It shall be unlawful for any cat owner to possess a cat without some form of identification by collar, tag, or microchip which must provide the following information:

    (1)

    The owner's name,

    (2)

    The owner's address,

    (3)

    The owner's phone number, and

    (4)

    The cat's name.

    If a cat is received into the city-approved animal impoundment facility and has no form of identification, a citation will be issued for lack of identification and it will be mandated to be microchipped and spayed or neutered. Upon proof of microchipping and spaying or neutering, the city prosecutor may nolle prosse charges.
