§ 18-28. Terms, filling vacancies.

  • (a)

    The original five (5) members of the parks and recreation commission shall be appointed to terms of one (1), two (2), three (3), four (4) and five (5) years so that one (1) commissioner's term will expire each year. Terms of office thereafter shall be for five (5) years. All vacancies shall be filled for the unexpired terms of the member whose office is vacant in the same manner as such member received the original appointment.

    (b)

    The first additional members appointed to the parks and recreation commission, as a result of an increase in membership from five (5) to seven (7), shall determine by lot their respective terms in order that the term of one (1) member shall be for three (3) years and the term of the other member shall be for five (5) years. At the expiration of the initial term of each of these two (2) additional commissioners, the term of office for any successor commissioner shall be five (5) years.
