§ 15-1. Court cost for guilty, nolo contendere pleas.

  • (a)

    There shall be levied and collected the sum of three dollars ($3.00) by both the criminal and traffic divisions of the municipal court from each defendant upon each conviction where there is no contest and a fine is paid, upon judgment of conviction, and upon each plea of guilty or nolo contendere, in each case heard and determined by the criminal and traffic divisions of the municipal court of this city except standing traffic and vehicle violations.

    (b)

    The three-dollar cost imposed by this section shall be paid into the city's general fund and the moneys are to be used to pay the salary of the assistant city attorney who prosecutes municipal court cases, to pay the expenses of the city that it contributes to the funds of the county public defender for defending indigent defendants that the city prosecutes in municipal court, and to contribute to the covering of additional municipal court expenses.
