§ 13-301. Definitions.

  • For the purposes of this article, the following words and phrases shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them:

    Junk yard shall mean any place of business where any item of tangible personal property is accumulated as part of a procedure of recovering the base materials of which the item is composed, whether the process of actual recovery occurs at such place of business or elsewhere.

    Salvage yard shall mean any place of business where any item of tangible personal property is accumulated as part of a procedure of dismantling the item to recover the component parts of such item, whether the actual dismantling occurs at such place of business or elsewhere.

    Secondhand article shall mean any item of tangible personal property, except a motor vehicle or an item of farm machinery, which shall have been sold and/or used either once or many times but is still in satisfactory condition to be utilized for its initially manufactured or constructed purpose.
