§ 12-68. Minimum qualifications.

  • No owner or operator of an ambulance service may employ as an ambulance driver a person who is under eighteen (18) years of age nor employ as an ambulance attendant a person who is under seventeen (17) years of age, and no person may be employed as an ambulance driver or attendant who habitually uses or is addicted to narcotics or intoxicating liquors. No owner or operator of an ambulance service may employ as an ambulance driver a person who does not have a current, valid commercial chauffeur's license issued by the state department of revenue pursuant to the Uniform Motor Vehicle Operator's and Chauffeur's License Act [A.C.A. § 27-16-101 et seq.]; provided that a person employed as an ambulance driver who resides in a state other than Arkansas may meet the requirements of this provision if that person holds a current, valid license obtained under requirements similar to those required for a commercial chauffeur's license in this state from the appropriate state agency of the state of that person's residence.
